GRADUATION
Size: 13cm x 18cm Medium: Photography Completion: December 2019 Inspired by chronophotography, my main focus was about movement. For the past 12 years I have been in school having the same routine almost everyday during the school year. This experience is represented as the white line because I have never had the choice to really change the path up. Now that I am graduating I start a new line that may not always be the same routine. I may switch paths and completely hop on another car that will create a different design.

INSPIRATION
In this picture I liked how there was no bright hues to the photo. It was simply just black and white making the movement be the only focus of the picture. With the black hole in the middle the audience was not overwhelmed with so many fingers. With multiple fingers and different sizes the audience will not get bored. I liked how the movement of the fingers did not create hard straight lines. The lines were curved and this inspired me to not create harsh lines. Even though straight lines are seen as more clean, the messy and more free flowing lines would convey my meaning more.

PLANNING
|
I always enjoyed running since I was in elementary school and thought to do a project on it. Runners are always in motion, in a race sometimes it is hard to depict a runners legs and arms. This is due to them running so fast in their form. I could use chronophotography to be able to express this. Instead of just taking one picture I would take multiple. If I only took one picture of a runner their legs and arms would be blurry. This would be okay if I wanted to make the exposure longer. Instead I wanted to focus on the structure of a runners form. By taking multiple pictures of a person in moving in their running form I could overlap them. This would be have a clearer picture of their legs and arms moving.

EXPERIMENTATION
I live right near a bridge that overlooks the freeway so I thought it would be a good opportunity to test out the settings on the camera. The bridge had a fence covering almost the whole view of the cars so it was hard to try and find a space to fit my lens. After I took the picture with the exposure longer I realize the fence space was too small for my lens to take a full picture. The fencing was in the way of my

With the exposure as long as my other experimentation I wanted to try to take picture while I was moving the camera as well. While taking the picture my surroundings were not only moving, but also the camera as I held it in the car. This helped me understand more on what would happen to everything in the picture that normally would stay still. Not only was I still able to depicted what my surrounding were but the lines that the lights created were more attention grabbing in my opinion.

ACT RESPONSES
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationship between your inspiration and its effect on your artwork?
My inspiration used black backgrounds making the subject stand out because of the high contrast. This lead me to use that same technique, making my background darker by taking it at night so the audience can see the lines of the movement easier.
What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
To look for something that can create movement
What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. while you researched your inspiration?
People get ideas from each other and develop their own concepts. Overtime Chronophotography has evolved into films and short clips.
What is the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
Chronophotography and how it works. Also to search how else I could create movement in a photo by not using chronophotography as a technique.
What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research?
Anything can create movement even if it is normally stable. Changing the angle of the picture of the subject and using the chronophotography technique will create the movement.
